Robot Combat League Founder Announces $2M STEM Education Grant

Norwalk Havoc Robot League (NHRL) Founder Austin McChord announced $2 million in STEM education grants in two separate initiatives. To promote STEM education and iSports he has been awarded $10,000 each to 100 non-profit colleges, vocational schools, and vocational schools. McCord in 2017 Donated $50 million to alma mater Rochester Institute of Technology, is an advocate of STEM education and iSports to build an innovative hangar. iSports is a new category of sports that includes robotics, racing, Lego building, and Rubik’s Cube.$1 million designated for 2023 NHRL University Robotics Grant Program $10,000 in grants awarded to 100 university programs to provide robotics teams with resources to reach their potential through innovation and intelligence. the second program, 2022 NHRL STEM Grant, to match the NHRL World Championship tournament. The winner of each tournament will be awarded $250,000 to her STEM charity of choice, with the remaining $250,000 split equally and donated to the remaining finalist’s chosen charity. Intended for robotics teams affiliated with her two- or four-year colleges, non-profit public or private institutions in the United States. Entries are open until December 31, 2022 and the winner will be announced in January 2023.

McChord says he got into robotics sports as a hobby after quitting his startup cybersecurity firm. Dat, founded the Robot Fighting League NHRL in 2018.
